Morocco’s ‘first lady of rock’ Khansa Batma speaks about latest career steps

Singer Khansa Batma, who is often described as Morocco’s “first lady of rock,” discussed in an interview with Al Arabiya News her upcoming album and first acting roles.

Batma’s Moroccan dialect - known as darjja - adds an Arabic essence to the western side of her rock music.

In addition to being an female rock singer, Batma is also a model, an activist and has lately began to pursue acting.

During her interview with Simo Benbachir, Batma also discusses her latest career moves and instructs her female fans: “Follow your dreams.”
