Watch China's Xi and Japan's Abe exchange awkward handshake

Chinese President Xi Jingping and Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe meet for the first time and exchange an unenthusiastic handshake before the cameras on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit.

The two leaders then went to meet in private in what is considered a diplomatic breakthrough in efforts to end two-year territorial dispute and trenched relations over cluster of islands.



Diplomacy nonetheless was not enough to conceal the tensed emotions between the two leaders.
