One-third of the total Houthi fighters are children

Published: Updated:

The seminar on Houthi militia exploitation for minors in war has sparked an interesting discussion between human rights and legal activists participating in the 30th session of the Human Rights Council currently held in Geneva.

The participants in the seminar presented the crimes of exploitation of children in wars and conflicts by the Houthi rebels in the form of testimonies and videos of Yemeni minors whom were captured by the resistance.

The problem today is that when a child gets involved in the war it is very difficult to make him get out of this experience not like the adult, therefore, we are talking about an imminent danger threatening the future of Yemen, even if reconciliation agreement has been reached between the parties.

Children shall remain a problem in the future. Yemenis will bear the largest part of this problem, but we are highlighting the problem so as the regional and international community would assume the responsibility for the rehabilitation of these children, even after the war, and the stop of the bleeding happening today in Yemen.
