Bad weather, border closures add to refugees plight

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees has announced that more than seven hundred thousand refugees have arrived in Europe through the Mediterranean this year, and warned of dangers facing them due to the harsh weather with the arrival of winter. More than seven hundred thousand refugees arrived in Europe through the Mediterranean this year, according to the High Commissioner for Refugees. UNHCR has also announced that the majority of refugees are from Syria, where Syrians in Greece form nearly 64% of the arrivals. The UNHCR said that, due to bad weather, the pursuit of the ships of displaced persons in the sea had become more difficult. The bad weather conditions also threaten a humanitarian crisis in light of the situation which the refugees face upon their arrival to the European territories.
