Full interview: Asiri discusses Saudi stance on Yemen, Syria wars

Published: Updated:

In an interview with Al Arabiya News Channel, Saudi military spokesman Brigadier General Ahmed al-Asiri discussed the kingdom’s stance on the ongoing wars in Yemen and Syria.

On Yemen, Asiri said the Yemeni forces, backed by airstrikes from the Saudi-led coalition, had advanced towards the capital Sanaa in a bid to liberate it from the control of Houthi militias.

He also said Houthi militias were “planting mines in a random manner in order to impede the movement” of Yemeni ground troops.

On Syria, the spokesman said Saudi Arabia was prepared to participate in any ground operation to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) by the U.S.-led coalition.
