Al Arabiya English’s interview with Shayma - before THAT Di Caprio question

Published: Updated:

Shayma Abdelmoumaim, the journalist with Egyptian newspaper Youm 7, is the most talked about reporter for the moment not only in Arab world but worldwide.

She was the one who asked a fresh Oscar-toting Leonardo Di Caprio a question which was dubbed by some media outlets as cringeworthy.

Aside from what was the last, but most memorable question of the evening, Abdelmoumaim also introduced herself as the first Egyptian journalist to cover the Academy Awards.

Before what would be later the most viral moment, Al Arabiya English interviewed her as an arab media member covering the Oscars before going into the press room.

Footage of her question sparked ridicule in the Middle East, with some slamming the Egyptian daily Youm7 for sending a journalist who did not speak clear-enough English to cover an event of its magnitude.
