Yemen talks: No progress after Wednesday session

Published: Updated:

Sources close to the two delegations of the Yemeni peace talks said that the talks, which were resumed today between the two delegations in the presence of the UN envoy, were heated, and so was the discussion between the two parties. The session aimed at discussing the consultations' general framework, which includes the withdrawal of militias and armed groups from the cities, the handing over of weapons, and the return of the state institutions. Sources participating in the session confirmed that the delegation of the rebels retracted its decision at the end of the session to approve of the components of the general framework after listening to the vision provided by the United Nations. The session ended without reaching any agreements on the proposed issues to be discussed.
