Yemeni government delegation has reiterated during the Kuwait consultations, that the road map for a comprehensive and sustainable peace inevitably requires the removal of the coup, the withdrawal of weapons, and the withdrawal from cities. On the other hand, Western diplomatic sources told Al-Arabiya that the coupists delegation pledged to the US Under-Secretary of State, Thomas Shannon, to carry out some withdrawals in implementation of a US request.
The UN envoy, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, unveiled his diplomatic activity, and held separate meetings with the delegations of the government and the coupists on the draft of a joint statement, announcing the suspension of consultations for two weeks. In the eyes of observers, this step gives a chance for the negotiators to catch breath, and have a break before welcoming the most important stage in the consultations lifetime.
