WATCH: Spectacular snow removal from roads in Sweden

Published: Updated:

A certain sign of spring is the removal of snow from Vildmarksvägen (Wilderness Road) in the mountains in north western Sweden. At some parts along the road the snow depth is more than 6 meters and it has to be removed in layer after layer. Four weeks is needed to remove all the snow from the road that will open in beginning of June. This is an unusual job, and definitely an unusual apprentice job, but of course the next generation snow clearers also have to learn how to clear the road. The 500 km long road stretches from Strömsund in Jämtland, over the Stekkenjokk Mountain, and ends in Vilhelmina in Lappland
