'Day Zero' looms in Australia Outback as climate change bites

For decades climate change was confined to gloomy prognoses and apocalyptic warnings, but in Australia's drought-stricken east it has become a brutal reality threatening the much-mythologised Outback way of life.


From the shores off the Great Barrier Reef, all the way to Sydney, a swathe of inland towns are facing their own "Day Zero" -- when taps will run dry in a crisis reminiscent of the hand dealt to huge cities like Cape Town and Chennai.
