GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi said in a statement that the 49th Extraordinary Meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council will be held and attended by the Foreign Ministers of the GCC states.
“The GCC Ministerial Council will discuss the latest developments with regards to the Iranian missile attack that targeted the sisterly State of Qatar,” the statement said.
Albudaiwi “emphasized that this meeting affirms the GCC states’ solidarity with their brothers in Qatar and also stresses that the security and stability of Qatar is an integral part of the security and stability of the GCC states.”
Iran’s military on Monday evening carried out a missile attack on the al-Udeid US airbase in Qatar with explosions being heard across the Qatari capital. The attack followed Tehran’s threat to retaliate for US airstrikes on its nuclear sites.
Qatar said that its air defenses intercepted missiles directed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest US military installation in the Middle East.
GCC and Arab states condemned the attack.
