The USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier collided with a merchant vessel this week while near Port Said, Egypt, according to the US Navy.

US Sixth Fleet spokesman Timothy Gorman said there were no injuries or flooding, and the collision did not endanger the carrier.

“The propulsion plants are unaffected and in a safe and stable condition. The incident is under investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available,” he said in a statement.

In December, the guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG 64), part of the Truman carrier strike group, mistakenly fired on and hit an F/A-18, which was flying off the aircraft carrier while in the Red Sea.

The Truman left the Red Sea and docked in Souda Bay last week for a working port visit after two months of combat operations in the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) area of operation, mainly countering Houthi attacks from Yemen.

It was also used in the joint US-Somalia airstrikes on Feb. 1 against senior ISIS-Somalia militants hiding in cave complexes approximately 50 miles southeast of Bosaso.
