Senior US defense official in Saudi Arabia to discuss strengthening ties

The top Pentagon official for the Middle East visited Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, where he met with defense officials to discuss bilateral ties.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Middle East Mike DiMino met with Dr. Khaled Al-Bayari, Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman’s advisor for executive affairs, according to the Saudi Ministry of Defense.

The two discuss opportunities to develop cooperation in defense capacity building “in a way that consolidates the strategic partnership between the defense ministries of the two friendly countries,” the ministry said.

DiMino is the Pentagon’s principal policy advisor on all defense and security issues in the Middle East.
