The Vice President of Yemen’s Southern Transitional Council (STC) Faraj al-Bahsani welcomed on Sunday Saudi Arabia’s readiness to host a conference gathering Yemen’s southern factions.

“We highly value the sincere invitation launched by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to sponsor a comprehensive southern dialogue aimed at exploring fair and equitable solutions to the Southern issue,” al-Bahsani said on X.

He said that this invitation is considered to be “a natural extension to the brotherly and historic ties” between both countries and is an honest expression of the Kingdom’s “keenness to the stability of our country,” he added.

Al-Bahsani hoped that this dialogue will result “in fair solutions that meet the legitimate aspirations of the people of the south and lays the foundation for a new phase stability and peace in the south.”

He thanked the Saudi leadership for its “sincere efforts in mending divisions,” and its continued support for what serves Yemen and its just causes.

Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry called on Saturday for Yemen’s southern factions to attend a conference in Riyadh to engage in dialogue and develop a comprehensive political solution.

It urged “a comprehensive conference in Riyadh to bring together all southern factions to discuss just solutions to the southern cause.”

The statement added that Riyadh was convening the conference in response to a request by the head of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi.
