Prince Faisal “reiterated his welcome of the comprehensive agreement, which includes the integration of self-administration institutions into Syrian state institutions, and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s support for all efforts by the Syrian government to preserve Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity,” the statement said.
Abdi is the chief of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Syria’s government and the Kurds last month signed an agreement to gradually integrate Kurdish forces and institutions into the state, after the SDF ceded territory to advancing government troops.
The officials also “discussed developments in the region and efforts to achieve security, stability, and development,” the statement added.
Prince Faisal on Saturday also met separately with US Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, on the sidelines of the conference.
The officials “reviewed joint efforts to promote security and stability in the region and the world,” the Saudi foreign ministry said on X.
During his attendance at the security conference, Prince Faisal participated in one of the panels discussions focused on the Middle East titled: Building momentum in the Middle East: “From Promise to progress.”
The session tackled developments across the Middle East, including the Gaza conflict and its humanitarian and security repercussions, the ministry said adding that discussions focused on ways to reinforce the foundations of stability and peace, support the two-state solution initiative and enhance security and economic stability in Syria.
“The participants further underscored the importance of coordinating international efforts to de-escalate tensions and create conducive conditions for sustainable political solutions that ensure political stability and promote human and economic development.”
