Cuban and U.S. officials opened two days of historic talks in Havana on Wednesday to shed decades of Cold War-era animosity and resume diplomatic relations.

U.S. deputy assistant secretary of state Alex Lee and Cuban foreign ministry official Josefina Vidal sat down for the first day of talks, which will focus on migration issues, while the reopening of embassies will be discussed on Thursday.
