France’s Macron says EU policy on frozen Russian funds must respect international law

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday any use of Russian frozen assets by the European Union in favor of Ukraine has to respect international law and that he was aligned with Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever, who has been critical about the EU Commission initiative.

“When assets are frozen, one has to respect international law. This is what the Belgian Prime Minister also recalled,” Macron told reporters.
