The Al-Shaikh family issued an explanatory statement on Sunday signed by its sons in Saudi Arabia stating that the claim belonging to the emir of one of the Gulf countries as being a descendent of Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab is false and fabricated.

The family also confirmed in its statement that Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab bin Sulaiman bin Ali bin Mohammed has 4 children only, and among them the family of the Al-Sheikh, they are Hussein bin Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab and Hassan bin Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab and Ali bin Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab and Abdullah bin Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab.

The Al-Sheikh family is only passed on from these four children, their sons, and their grandsons.

As for the claims to be attributed to Al-Sheikh - apart than those four children inside or outside the Kingdom - are false, fabricated, false, and irrelevant.

The emir of one of the Gulf States, who built a mosque in the name of Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab in his country, claimed that this was his grandfather, although the Imams and preachers in this mosque have no link to Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab.

The family demanded that the name of the mosque be changed because it does not carry the true name of Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab, and takes the Salafi Wasati approach to preaching.
