3 Al-Qaeda suspects killed in drone strike in Yemen
Yemeni security officials say a suspected US drone has struck a car traveling in eastern Yemen
Yemeni security officials say a suspected US drone has struck a car traveling in eastern Yemen, killing three suspected Al-Qaeda fighters.
They said the car targeted in the Friday attack was traveling in the province of Marib. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
This was the third US drone strike in a week. US drone strikes have killed dozens of Al-Qaeda militants in Yemen as part of Washington’s global campaign against the organization.
Al-Qaeda and ISIS have taken advantage of the chaos and lawlessness brought about by Yemen’s ongoing civil war to expand their reach.
The war pits the internationally recognized government and a Saudi-led coalition against Shiite rebels and forces loyal to a former president.
