Dubai wants to become 10 years ahead of other top cities
Dubai has launched its ‘10X2.0’ initiative at the World Government Summit (WGS) on Monday which aims to make the city 10 years ahead of others in the fields of technology and services.
The initiative, which was launched by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, is an upgrade from a previous version, ‘10X’, which was launched in the 2017 WGS by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid al-Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
More than 160 ideas submitted by 36 different government entities were evaluated by a committee, 26 of which were approved and launched, Gulf News reported.
The projects will include Dubai Police’s ‘Police Without Members’, the Dubai Land Department’s ‘Self-processed property transactions’, and the Dubai Government Media Office’s ‘Dubai Stadium X’.
“The UAE sets a global model of innovative solutions that enable governments to develop and reformulate their work systems, which will achieve happiness and quality of life for their people,” the newspaper reported Shaikh Hamdan as saying.
In a session about the initiative presented during the WGS, Shaikh Hamdan heard officials providing an overview of the program, where they also announced that Dubai’s government entities will implement the projects over the next 24 months, according to Gulf News.
They added that the main aim is to build the world's smartest and happiest city.
