The brother of a sergeant who died in a terror attack in Saudi Arabia involving suspected extremists clashing with security forces on Sunday has spoken about the incident.

The attack, which occurred at 3:45 pm local time in Buraidah, the capital of al-Qassim Region, left two of the suspected terrorists dead while one officer and another resident died during the attack.

Abdul Wahid Abdel Latif said that his slain brother, Sergeant Suleiman Abdelaziz Abdel Latif, had four sons and two daughters.
He had moved from the city of Riyadh to Buraidah to live near his parents.

Abdul Wahid, who still lives in Riyadh, said that he had talked to Suleiman on the phone about family issues five days before the incident.

Abdul Wahid had been informed of the death by his younger brother. He rushed to Buraidah as soon as he confirmed that his brother was a victim in the attack.

Moments before the attack, officers at the Buraidah checkpoint were having lunch together and were getting ready to perform afternoon prayers, a security officer who was at the checkpoint with Suleiman said.

Authorities have said the case is still being investigated.
