Al Arabiya English publishes opinion pieces, known as op-eds, from external writers on a range of topics.

To submit an op-ed, please first send a 100-200 word pitch outlining your central argument and the relevant context with a short explanation of why the piece would work for our publication.

All op-eds accepted for publication must be exclusive to Al Arabiya English. The op-ed must also have a strong central argument based on a timely and relevant issue.

Submissions typically range from 600 to 900 words, but we will consider longer or shorter articles when appropriate. We accept pitches on a range of subjects provided they are in line with the guidelines provided here. Articles might include commentary on world or regional events, argument about cultural trends, or forward-thinking essays about future developments.

The language used should be clear, concise and jargon-free. While op-eds are opinions, your piece needs to be fact-based and well researched. When writing, try to include your argument in the first paragraph of the piece. Assume your reader knows little about the topic, which must be explained to them as you make your argument.

Please include links to your sources as it helps with the fact-checking process. However, for publication, typically only internal hyperlinks will be included. Please therefore make sure to write a self-contained piece that does not require the reader to click on hyperlinks to verify your claims.
