Saudi traveler Omar al-Omeir left Indonesia on Tuesday heading to Malaysia on a humanitarian trip in which he plans hall visit eight countries in East Asia during an 80-day trip that will see him log 7,000 km on his bicycle.

The Saudi Press Agency reported that Omeir aims to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation and that he considers this act of philanthropy as crucial in saving the life of another human being.

The 37-year-old Omeir began his journey on December 17 last year from the Saudi Arabia’s consulate in India’s Mumbai heading to Indonesia, which he left on Tuesday towards Malaysia. He will then journey to Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam and will conclude his trip in Hong Kong, China.

Omeir said that he prepared for the trip by riding his bike for 12 hours a day, relying on a healthy diet which helps maintain his fitness to walk properly. He also drinks plenty of water to compensate for the energy consumed during the trip, noting that he enjoys the follow-up routines and attention from the Saudi embassies in the countries he visits.
