‘Supermoon’ brightening up skies for stargazers across Gulf countries
Stargazers across the Arabian Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, were able to catch a glimpse of the “supermoon”, a phenomenon that takes place when the moon appears bigger and brighter in the sky as it moves closer to Earth.
To observers, the Moon on Sunday night should have appeared about 7 percent larger and 15 percent brighter, according to a BBC report.
The full moon on Sunday night marks the first and only supermoon of 2017. Two more fullmoons are expect in January 2018.
