Air Arabia flight departs safely to UAE from Sudan after fire

An Air Arabia aircraft finally took off to Sharjah airport on Wednesday from Khartoum at the early hours of the morning after a fire broke inside the plane’s cabinet minutes after taking off.

Khartoum airport spokesman Mohammed al-Mahdi Abdoun said in a statement to SUNA that the captain of the plane informed the Khartoum airport authorities that a fire broke out and that the plane crew successfully controlled it. The plane landed safely at Khartoum airport and all 103 passengers were safe and sound.

The relevant units at the airport, which are the departments of investigations, criminal evidence, aviation security and civil defense, began the procedures to determine the causes of the fire. The plane finally took off to its destination, the Sharjah Airport.
