WATCH: Mother emotionally reacts when her deaf baby hears for first time

A video shared on social media showed an emotional American mother holding her baby girl who happily reacted to hearing for the first time.

Ayla, one, is seen putting her hand up to her ear with a delighted look on her face, while her mother was moved at the sight and started crying.

Ayla underwent a cochlear implant at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

The cochlear implant known as (CI) is a surgically implanted electronic device that replaces the function of the damaged inner ear.

Unlike hearing aids, which make sounds louder, cochlear implants do the work of damaged parts of the inner ear (cochlear) to provide sound signals to the brain.
