On Global News Today, Tom Burges Watson examines the latest escalation in the US-Iran confrontation after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio declared that Iran will continue to pay a “high price” until it comes back to its “senses,” insisting Tehran is not yet ready to negotiate.

Rubio’s remarks come as the United States carries out another consecutive night of strikes on Iranian targets. President Donald Trump has also vowed to destroy Iranian infrastructure whenever Tehran attacks commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.

Speaking in Manila, Rubio said Iran was “begging” for talks but argued that Tehran repeatedly breaks agreements, casting doubt on the prospects for renewed diplomacy.
