In an astonishing video filmed at a Brazilian hospital, a man strums his guitar to the classic Beatles hit “Yesterday” whilst undergoing brain surgery.
The patient, Anthony Kulkamp Dias, was having a brain tumor removed, reported local media as per the Telegraph.
“I played six songs at certain times,” Kulkamp said, “My right hand was a bit weaker because that was the side that they were operating on. So I stopped and rested. I was interspersing songs and talking with them.”
Since the brain has no pain receptors, keeping patients conscious during surgery is not entirely unusual.
