Former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, Dan Gillerman, called the Palestinian people “horrible, inhuman animals” in a televised interview with Sky News on Wednesday.
Gillerman made the remarks in response to a question about Israel’s collective punishment of the civilian population in the Gaza Strip and the blockade on essential supplies such as electricity and fuel.
He said: “I am very puzzled by the constant concern which the world is showing for the Palestinian people and is actually showing for these horrible inhuman animals who have done the worst atrocities that this century has seen.”

The former Israeli ambassador to the UN also compared Hamas’s deadly October 7 attack on Israel to 9/11, saying that he does not recall people shedding tears for the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, referring to the global outcry on the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.
“All of a sudden when it comes to Israel everybody is becoming a great humanitarian, totally forgetting what happened two weeks ago, which is unforgettable and unforgivable,” Gillerman said.
Israel’s full siege on Gaza
Israel declared a total siege on Gaza following the deadly October 7 attack by Hamas in which 1,400 Israelis were killed and around 220 taken hostage.
Since then, Israel has launched relentless airstrikes on the densely populated Gaza Strip and imposed a blockade on critical supplies such as food and water.
Israel says that it is targeting Hamas “terrorists” and has blamed the militant group for using Palestinian civilians as human shields.

Israeli airstrikes have indiscriminately attacked the strip, according to Palestinians, wiping out entire families, flattening residential neighborhoods, and targeting hospitals, churches, mosques and journalists.
More than 5,791 Palestinians, including 2,360 children, have been killed in the Israeli bombardments since Hamas attacked Israel.
While aid has been allowed into the besieged Gaza Strip, humanitarian organizations, such as the UNRWA warn that it is far from enough to meet the significant human needs on the ground.
