The foreign minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has held talks with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Saar in the Gulf nation, the UAE state news agency (WAM) reported on Tuesday.
The two leaders discussed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and regional and international efforts to reach a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, it said.

Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the importance of advancing negotiations to achieve lasting peace based on a two-state solution, to stabilize the region and put an end to escalating violence. He affirmed the UAE’s support for international efforts led by Qatar, Egypt and the US to broker a prisoner exchange and a permanent ceasefire.
Talks aimed at cementing a truce in Gaza between Israel and Hamas are ongoing, with “technical meetings” taking place between the parties, mediator Qatar’s foreign ministry said Tuesday.
A previous round of mediation in December ended with both sides blaming the other for the impasse, with Hamas accusing Israel of setting “new conditions” and Israel accusing Hamas of throwing up “obstacles” to a deal.
