Saudi Arabia’s NEOM Green Hydrogen Plant launches mass recruitment drive

NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) has announced a mass recruitment campaign for its mega green hydrogen plant at Saudi Arabia’s futuristic mega project, as the project edges closer to its operational phase.

NGHC will hold a virtual career fair on April 18-19, aiming to attract top talent for its operations and maintenance (O&M) team which will run the world’s largest green hydrogen plant located at NEOM’s Oxagon.

NGHC aims to build a highly skilled Saudi workforce – in addition to international expertise – to staff the critical operations behind what aims to be the world’s largest green hydrogen plant. Additionally, it is collaborating with Saudi research and educational institutions to upskill Saudi youth, preparing them to join the green hydrogen and renewable energy sector.

The $8.4 billion facility, set to be the world’s largest green hydrogen production plant, is progressing on schedule for full operations by the end of 2026. The project aims to produce up to 600 tonnes of carbon-free hydrogen daily, potentially eliminating five million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

NGHC last held a recruitment drive in 2024, which attracted more than 9,000 registrations in the Kingdom.

The 2025 campaign aims to expand its reach to fill key operational roles.

According to the CEO, this drive marks a “pivotal phase” in the company’s development.

“The professionals joining our operations and maintenance team will be at the forefront of the green hydrogen revolution, operating a facility that will produce 600 tonnes of carbon-free hydrogen daily when operational at the end of 2026,” NGHC CEO Wesam Alghamdi said in a press statement. “This initiative reinforces our commitment to Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative’s goals for economic diversification and sustainability, while positioning Saudi Arabia as a global leader in clean energy.”

The Virtual Career Fair will provide candidates with direct access to NGHC’s talent acquisition team and hiring managers through live sessions and interactive discussions. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to play a crucial role in operating the facility.

The green hydrogen plant, an equal joint venture between ACWA Power, Air Products, and NEOM, will integrate up to 4GW of solar and wind energy, with around 5.6 million solar panels and over 250 wind turbines powering 2.2GW of electrolysers. A development workforce of 6,000 is currently transforming a stretch of Red Sea coast into what Saudi Arabia envisions as the world’s most advanced and sustainable port – Port of NEOM, in the reimagined industrial city, Oxagon – where NGHC will be located.

The massive Port of NEOM and Oxagon developments represent the maritime and industrial heart of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s mega project NEOM, backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
