Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry said on Sunday that it is monitoring the events in Iran with “deep concern” after the US struck Iranian nuclear sites.

Saudi Arabia is “following with deep concern the developments in the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly the targeting of Iranian nuclear facilities” by the US, the ministry said in a post on X.

US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday night that American forces had struck three nuclear sites in Iran, calling the operation “a spectacular military success” while warning that more attacks would be ordered if Tehran did not agree to a deal.

“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan,” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform. Trump said a “full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow” and that all US planes were out of Iranian airspace and en route back to their bases shortly after 7:50 PM EST.

Saudi Arabia reiterated that it condemns and denounces “the violation of the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

“The Kingdom underscores the need to exert all possible efforts to exercise restraint, deescalate tension and avoid further escalation.”

“The Kingdom also calls on the international community to intensify its efforts during this highly sensitive period to reach a political solution that would bring and end to the crisis and open a new chapter for achieving security and stability in the region,” the ministry added in its statement.
