OPEC slams ‘misleading’ reports about plans to increase oil production
OPEC on Tuesday hit out at recent media reports claiming that the Group of Eight (G8) countries were planning to increase production by 500,000 barrels per day.
“These claims are wholly inaccurate and misleading,” the OPEC Secretariat said in a statement posted to X.

Discussions about the upcoming meeting have not yet begun, according to the statement.
“Consequently, the OPEC Secretariat strongly urges media outlets to exercise accuracy and responsibility in their reporting in order to avoid fueling unnecessary speculation in the oil market,” OPEC said.
