Saudi Arabia arrests 22 people, among them a Qatari, ‘for inciting illegal acts’

An official source at Saudi Arabia’s Presidency of State Security said that they have arrested 22 people, among them one Qatar, for inciting to commit illegal acts.

The State Security Authority said in a statement that through the follow-up and monitoring of social media a number of videos were circulated commenting on different topics in an inflammatory manner to stir public opinion about public issues and incite directly and indirectly members of the public to commit criminal acts.

Saudi State Security was able to identify the owners of the accounts in question and arrested 22 suspects, one of whom is a Qatari national.

"The motives and connections are being verified," a statement Saudi Press Agency read.

“The Presidency of the State Security, as it declares this, warns against the consequences of falling into such practices, and at the same time stresses that it will not tolerate anyone who commits such acts, and will respond firmly and resolutely to those who seek to undermine the security of the homeland and its stability,” the statement added.
