Issa al-Saghir, the attorney-general of the Ministry of Justice in the Libyan interim government, said that Saif al-Islam has been released by power of law.

The minister of justice asked the “Abu Bakr al-Siddiq” battalion, which is protecting him in prison, to release him.

The deputy of the Ministry of Justice in the interim government stressed the necessity to release the son of Qaddafi, which came under the law of amnesty No. 6 in 2015. Issued by the legislative power of the Parliament.

The Statement of the decision was: “After reviewing the papers of the accused Saif al-Islam Muammar Qaddafi, and checking to the above-mentioned amnesty law, and study the excluded cases from the application of the law shows that these cases do not apply to him.”

The Libyan official said that the former justice minister in the interim government sent a letter to the institution of reform and rehabilitation supervising prisons in Zintan, to activate the amnesty law and demanding to release Saif Al-Islam.

Saghir called for the release of Saif al-Islam and to allow to move freely inside Libya and even abroad.
