Maradona foul: Football star seen slapping man in Argentina
Retired football star Diego Maradona slapped a member of the press on Sunday, while out and about in his home country of Argentina.
According to Argentine news outlet El-Comercio, Maradona was followed and surrounded by a pack of journalists and scuffled with a man, reportedly Enrique Medina.
The former Barcelona, Napoli and Boca Juniors star exited his car to confront the man.
“What is it, fool? Why mess with my wife if I do not mess with you?” Maradona asked, before slapping the man and driving off.
This is not the first time Maradona stands accused of assault; in 1998, he was given a suspended jail sentence of two years and 10 months for shooting at journalists with an air rifle.
The case addressed a February 1994 incident when he fired at paparazzi and reporters outside his Buenos Aires country home, injuring four people, the BBC reported.
