US may have some good news on push to end Ukraine-Russia war, Trump says

US President Donald Trump on Monday said his administration might have some good news soon on its push to end the nearly four-year war triggered by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

“I think we’re doing very well with Ukraine and Russia. For the first time, I’m saying that. I think we’re going to, maybe, have some good news,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.

Envoys from Kyiv, Moscow and Washington will meet in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday and Thursday for talks aimed at ending the war.

Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to Abu Dhabi for the talks a White House official said on Monday.
