ISIS destroys priceless, centuries old Iraqi artifacts
In a video published by supporters of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), a group of men are seen attacking and destroying statues and sculptures dating to the ancient Assyrian era.
The undated footage is believed to have been shot in a museum in Mosul, the Iraqi city that was ran by the militant group in 2014.
“The Prophet ordered us to get rid of statues and relics, and his companions did the same when they conquered countries after him,” an unidentified man said in the video as Islamic music played in the background.
